Minutes:

The Committee considered a report from the Licensing Team Leader which set out the work that was underway in reviewing all currently in-force local hackney carriage and private hire vehicle policies inherited by West Northamptonshire Council from the now abolished Northampton Borough, Daventry District and South Northamptonshire District Councils.

In introducing the report, the Environmental Health and Licensing Manager explained that the current table of hackney carriage fares took effect from December 2013 in the former Northampton Borough area, October 2008 in the former South Northamptonshire area and May 2019 in the former Daventry district. Due to the significant rise in the cost of living and fuel and changes to the UK economic outlook since the current fare table took effect, WNC-licensed hackney carriage drivers were seeking an increase to offset the rising cost of living and fuel, and that the views of all hackney and combined licence holders were canvassed regarding the proposed increase.

The Licensing Team Leader added that, whilst the former South Northamptonshire district  area did not currently have any licensed hackney carriage drivers based within it, the proposed new tariff would apply to the wider West Northamptonshire Council area.

Resolved

(1)  That the proposed WNC Hackney Carriage Tariff table of fares be recommended to Cabinet for approval.
