Planning Application - WND/2022/0311 Long Buckby PDF 312 KB Minutes: 46. WND/2022/0311 – LONG BUCKBY - CONSTRUCTION OF GARAGE/CARPORT ON EXISTING HARDSTANDING
The Principal Planning Officer outlined the report and advised that the application was being considered by Committee as the applicant was the relative of a person who worked for West Northants Council. The application sought to construct a garage/carport on an existing area of hardstanding. The Parish Council had objected as they considered that the hardstanding could accommodate three vehicles, whilst the proposed garage would be for two vehicles. However, the area was not a formalised parking space. Officers were satisfied that the proposal was not detrimental to neighbours or highway safety.
In response to questions regarding the height of the roof, the Principal Planning Officer advised that it was due to the width and pitch of the carport. The area housed more traditional buildings so a steeper pitch was more in keeping. A flat roof could be built under permitted development rights.
Councillor Peter Matten acknowledged the Parish Council objections but noted that Highways had no objections. Councillor Matten proposed that Officers advice to approve the application be accepted. The proposition as seconded by Councillor Alan Chantler, and on being put to the meeting was declared carried with 8 voting in favour, none against and one abstention.
RESOLVED:
That the application be approved as set out in the report.
