Welcomes, Introductions and Apologies

HMD Statements

Minutes:

Forum members recorded their statements ahead of Holocaust Memorial Day event on the Friday the 26th Jan. The statement video will be screened at the live event and highlights from the event will be shared online via WNC’s social media accounts.

 

Lissy will be attending to compere the event. Haroon offered to attend to shadow/support Lissy. Action: aimee to follow up with Haroon and sort permissions if attending.

Project Work - Sex Education topic

Minutes:

Forum members reviewed the period poverty flyer created by Jessica. Lilybo also created a poster for the schools.

Action Lilybo to find and share the poster for comments/amendments from the group.

 

The group drafted a letter to be sent to schools with the flyer and poster.

Once completed the letter will be sent out to all West Northants Schools.

 

The letter sets out the call to action and what the youth forum are trying to achieve around how periods are dealt with in school and access to period products.

The flyer is aimed at teachers, explaining the need for action and how to make a difference.

The poster is available to display alongside free products making sure students know why to treat them with respect/why they are so important.

5.

Action plan and Induction planning

Minutes:

Everyone reviewed last years induction and gave feedback.

The fact game was requested again as a good get to know each other exercise.

Everyone liked being able to vote on priorities.

 

Aimee and Debs to ensure lanyards are available for this year and produce the ID cards following the February event.

6.

Visit the Lowdown

Minutes:

Members visited the lowdown centre in town. The building is currently undergoing improvement works so wasn’t available for full viewing. Lowdown staff members were still able to inform the young people of the services that they provide, including after school classes, wellbeing classes and more.
