The Alcohol and Gambling Licensing Committee is
responsible for determining licensing policy and applications in
accordance with its role and functions set out below.
Role and Functions
To deal with all the licensing functions of the
Council under the Licensing Act 2003 (“the 2003 Act”)
and the Gambling Act 2005 (“the 2005 Act”) (except such
functions as cannot be delegated).
To approve licensing policy in compliance with the
provisions of the 2003 Act, the 2005 Act and any regulations made
thereunder (except matters specifically reserved by statute to
Council or the Cabinet).
The Alcohol and Gambling Licensing Committee has the
power to appoint such sub-committees as may from time to time be
necessary to discharge its duties under the 2003 and 2005
Acts.
Sub-committees will have full delegated powers to
determine all applications made under the 2003 and 2005
Acts.
Each Sub-Committee will comprise of three members
drawn from the Alcohol and Gambling Licensing Committee.
